The shot you see on the left side is exactly what we received from our client, we didn’t blur it more trying to foul you (we promise!). The story goes like this: this was a custom made, one of the kind watch, and our client didn’t have time for a photo session before they sold the watch to it’s current owner. They received a proposal to be included in a catalog for exclusive brands, and at the same time they had a chance of having access to take photos of the watch while it was in for regular maintenance treatments.

The watch was in Switzerland, and had been taken apart into many pieces by the watchmaker during maintenance. The person in charge of this process was asked to take the best picture he could. He took the picture with a regular camera and the lights available in his shop. That’s the picture on the left side. We knew the design and how it looked in it’s original state, and we had as much material at hand as you can see when we started to recreate it. What you see on the right side is the result of a great post production process, and not the art of a fantastic photographer.

This project is an international story that happened overnight with: a client in New York, a watch manufacturer in Switzerland, a magazine publisher in UK, and a creative studio in Bucharest; Okapi Studio.

For this project, we took a classic and plain studio shot and prepared it for a promotional print campaign. We had to make the atmosphere feel like nighttime, so we changed the light and played with a lot of shades in order to make it look natural.

Working on a low budget, we took upon ourselves the task of making the photo shooting for Grasu XXL’s album cover. We didn’t need the best looking shots in terms of light and quality; what we looked to capture were the emotions and attitude, relying on our post-production skills for the final result. The results are exactly as we planned from the beginning. In the first reverse shot, did you notice how the LA sign on the baseball cap maintained a natural positioning?

While working on Emblem’s promotional campaign, we had to create a illusory atmosphere, an intrusion somewhere between fantasy and surrealism. The samples showcased bellow are have started from raw photo shooting material post-processed and refined in many hours of focused effort. The result are flawless and remarkable illustration that portrait the Emblem fashion clothing brand.
